It’s Monday and that means it’s back to work! After such a great weekend, I’m re-charged and ready to start the week out great. I’m feeling so much better after this weekend, and I’m so excited to share it with you! It’s full of travels, eats, and r&r.

Friday I had stopped at Trader Joe’s and picked up some flowers and appetizers over my lunch break, and at 5 I jetted out of work and headed to my friend Kelli’s house back in my hometown. It was her birthday on Thursday, so we made a delicious healthy shrimp alfredo with spaghetti squash instead of noodles! Β (recipe can be found here via Simply Taralynn), had a cheese plate set up (found some delicious wild mushroom brie at Trader Joes) with some salmon dip & crackers, and also made these delicious Peach Bellinis! (recipe can be found here via Eat Drink Love) Everything was so delicious, and the recipes are definitely going in my recipe book! The rest of the night was spend chatting away and watching Bates Motel! (I had finished the seasons last year — SO GOOD, highly recommend)

Saturday morning I headed back home, worked a little bit, then got ready for the day. Mark came over, and we decided that we were going to take a day trip out to Stillwater! We have always heard many great things about Stillwater, but neither of us had been there. We wanted to check it out! First we ran a few errands, then headed out.

We arrived around noon and found a place to park. Once we started walking, the very first store we happened upon was a candy store! It had so many different candies to choose from.

You could even look through the glass and see them making all the chocolates, fudge, etc.! It was amazing.

From there we went to lunch at a restaurant we’ve heard a lot about called Nacho Mama’s! It’s a mexican restaurant, and it was so good. Mark got tacos and I got the smothered burrito! Yolo right?

We stopped in a few little antique stores before we headed down to the water. It was beautiful! It was 70 and sunny, and there were so many wedding pictures being taken down by the water. We sat there for a good half hour at least just enjoying the day!

After that we headed to Nelson’s ice cream. I’ve heard that it’s amazing, and it was! Pictured above was mine, and that was a SINGLE. They have sizes up to a triple!

After that we headed home. We were both exhausted, and I had some work to do. It was a great Saturday!

Sunday I spent the morning working, cleaning, and getting lots of things organized! Then for a late lunch, we went to Crooked Pint Ale House for the first time. We’ve been wanting to try it and finally did it! And boy was it a great idea. It was beautiful weather outside, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.

We were able to sit outside which was perfect! I had the chicken chibatta roll and mark has pork tacos, then he had seen a cream cheese stuffed cookie on the dessert menu and decided to get it. I had a bite or five.. πŸ˜‰ It was scrumptious!

Behind the building is a gorgeous park and walking area which we took advantage of!

Afterwards we headed home and watched the movie Deadpool–super funny! Overall it was a wonderful weekend and just what I needed.

What did you do this weekend? Do you have any good movies to suggest? What is one thing you do each week to keep you upbeat and excited about the week?

  1. I love reading your update posts, girlie! Looks like a blast! I definitely will have to try that spaghetti squash pasta- um, YUM!!!!! Your pictures are awesome- especially of that cream cheese stuffed cookie! That looks like heaven in a bowl. Holy moly. Thanks for sharing, lovely!

    – This weekend I studied, studied, studied. I’m about to take my nursing boards, so this house is nothing but the books! I will still make a post about the restaurants we tried (soon enough). I am a bit behind on the blogging πŸ˜‰
    – Movies: I could talk movies all day! I love love love Boyhood. Truly one of the greatest movies of all time, especially if you are a 90s child!
    – Stay motivated: LISTS. lists are my best friend. I make lists for everything. If I do something extra, I write it on the list just to cross it off, haha. If I have goals set then I feel motivated to work extra hard and feel accomplished at the end of the day. However, I am currently procrastinating the studying….. Back to work for me now too! xo
